Android history
Android is an open-source Linux-based operating system designed for touch screen phones and tablets. It is released under the Apache License which means that it can be modified by anyone.
Android was unveiled in November 2007 as the Open Handset Alliance was formed.

In September 2008, Android 1.0 was released. The first phone to handle the Android OS was the HTC Dream.
Today, over 600 million android phones are being used worldwide making it the most used phone OS.
The latest version of Android is Jelly Bean 4.2.
