All of the Great Fairy Locations in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a departure from series norms in many ways, it does retain quite a few elements that have been in the games since the beginning, like the Great Fairy fountains, for instance. The Great Fairy fountains are scattered across Hyrule for Link to find. In total, there are five Great Fairies in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with four that can upgrade Links armor, and one that can resurrect dead horses.

These Great Fairy fountains are housed in large green bulbs that will bloom once Link has sufficient funds to pay them. Once Link has at least 100 rupees in his pocket, players can start unlocking the Great Fairy fountains.

Armor Fairies

The first Great Fairy players will likely find is the one named Cotera, located in the woods just northeast of Kakariko Village. There is a quest tied to finding this particular fairy, so Cotera is one of the easiest ones to find in the game. At any rate, if Link approaches the woods from the sky with his paraglider, Coteras bulb should be visible through the trees; its in the northern end of the forest.

The second Great Fairy is located near the east coast of Hyrule. Before trying to find her, be sure to unlock more of the map by climbing the various towers dotted around the landscape. With the east coast now visible on the map, take a look at Tingel Island. Directly west from the island is a cluster of trees. Travel here to find the next Great Fairy fountain, which is the residence of the Great Fairy Mija.

The third Great Fairy is on the opposite side of the map, in western Hyrule. There is a mountain region here called Piper Ridge, southeast from Tabantha Tower, which is located on top of Nero Hill. This fountain is easy to spot from the tower, so glide to it from there using Links paraglider to meet the Great Fairy Kaysa.

The fourth and final armor-upgrading Great Fairy is Tera, who can be found in the Gerudo Desert. More specifically, she can be found at the Gerudo Great Skeleton, along with a shrine. However, reaching Tera is dangerous due to the extreme temperatures of the desert, so bring proper clothing and healing items before attempting to free her.

Horse Fairy

The fifth Great Fairy in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is different in that it doesnt upgrade Links armor. However, this Great Fairy, Malanya, is useful in that he can resurrect dead horses for a fee, of course. To find the Great Fairy Malanya, head to the southern part of Hyrule, west of the Nette Plateau to find the Lake of the Horse God. Just south of this lake is the Horse God Bridge, which Link can follow for a direct path to the fountain.

With Malanya freed, Link will have rescued all five Great Fairies that can be found in the open world of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And assuming he has sufficient funds, Link will be able to utilize these fairies to upgrade his armor and bring back any horses that have met an untimely fate, which should help a great deal in his adventuring.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
